Choosing Domains for Your Crucible Vision
Use these as candidate domains—not a required taxonomy—and choose, combine, or rename them. This gives you enough range to uncover your priorities without turning the discussion into an exhaustive life-area inventory.
- Health & capacity — your physical health, energy, recovery, and habits that sustain the rest of your life.
- Work & contribution — your career, craft, service, and the impact you want your work to have.
- Financial stability & freedom — your income, security, stewardship, and what money makes possible for you.
- Relationships & community — your partnership, friendships, and community roles; consider the quality and shape of connection, not only the number of commitments. Family may fit here or deserve its own domain.
- Family — care, partnership, parenting, family relationships, or the kind of family life you want to build. Treat it as a standalone domain when it deserves your focused attention.
- Meaning, values & personal growth — your spirituality or purpose, identity, learning, and the kind of person you are becoming.
- Recreation & creativity — your play, hobbies, creative practice, adventure, and restorative enjoyment; this may merit a domain of its own rather than being treated as leftover time.
- Home & daily life — your living environment, routines, and the practical systems that shape your everyday experience; this may be your priority domain.
These are prompts, not universal categories. You may combine family with relationships, choose recreation & creativity or home & daily life as a priority, or name a different domain entirely.
Questions to guide your selection
- Which areas, if they were meaningfully better a year from now, would make the biggest difference to your life?
- What makes this area important to you now?
- What would a compelling vision look like for you here?
- Which role within this domain do you want to strengthen?
- What would you be able to point to as evidence of your progress?
After you explore, choose up to three active-focus domains for this planning cycle. Keep the others visible as maintenance or “not this cycle,” rather than treating them as unimportant. The eight domain matrix pages are examples to consult during Vision; they are not required worksheets, and you can choose a different domain or combine examples. The chosen domains carry forward into Visionary Domains and then the Weekly Domain Plan.
